Brackets and Shelf Supports Hardware Basics
Brackets and shelf supports are indispensable for creating wall-mounted storage that makes efficient use of space.
In this section, learn the basics about different types of brackets and shelf supports, as well as how to choose them for different situations and purposes, such as wall shelves, display cases, and folding work desks or tables.
What is a shelf support?
Create Display Shelves with Meticulously Designed Shelf Supports
Display shelves, whether in a home display case or a store wall display, are effective for storing frequently used items or showcasing interior design pieces. With meticulously designed shelf supports, it is possible to arrange a space to exact specifications.
Create Temporary Workspaces with Folding Brackets
Folding brackets are ideal for creating temporary workspaces for household chores, desk work, or food preparation. The shelves can be folded away easily when not in use, to make efficient use of space.
Types of Shelf Supports

BT BTK
BTK-UB
Triangle brackets feature a distinctive triangular design.
Their maximum load capacity is approximately 100 kgf per unit, meaning a single bracket can be used to support a table. Cables can be wired through the inside of the bracket, allowing for a clean look when setting tablets or other electrical appliances on the table.
Raised counter brackets allow the setup of additional floating countertops above an existing countertop or on walls. Cables can be wired through the inside of the supports, allowing a space suitable for kitchen appliances or a charging spot for tablets and so on.

* For shelves, tempered glass is highly recommended.
Shelf Supports Suitable for Workspaces and Workbenches
Recommended for narrow spaces! Folding brackets that stow away when not in use
Folding brackets allow shelves to be folded away when not in use, optimising space in kitchens, restaurants, and other areas with narrow aisles. These brackets are ideal for creating temporary workspaces, such as when working remotely. With a high load capacity, they ensure safe use, and the catch mechanism keeps the shelf stable when closed. Installation is easy, with no hinges required. Additionally, the EB-DA, a built-in damper model, offers soft-close shelves for added convenience.
EB EB-DA (Built-in Damper)The EB-F can hold shelves at four angles (60°, 70°, 80°, and 90°), making it suitable for placing books, tablet devices, or adjusting monitor displays to an easy-to-read angle.
EB-F (Multi Angle Locking)Folding brackets are ideal for situations where additional workspace is temporarily required, such as folding counters in kitchens and restaurants.
The 388 can support deeper shelves than the EB. Since they need to be used with hinges, a single expandable bracket can be used on narrow shelves.
The 388-D (built-in damper model) allows for soft-close motion which prevents accidental shutting.
How to Choose Shelf Supports
Load Capacity (Static and Dynamic Loads)
When building a wall-mounted shelf, it is essential to choose brackets based on the type and total weight of the items to be placed on the shelf. Ensure that the brackets have a sufficient load capacity. The load capacity of our shelf supports is tested by applying force in a perpendicular direction, as illustrated at position P in the figure on the right.
Load capacity can be broadly categorised into static and dynamic loads, which are determined by the shelf's intended use.
Additionally, even when multiple shelf supports are used for one shelf, the load may not be distributed equally to each bracket. The overall load capacity of the shelf should be estimated based on that of each individual bracket.
Static Load
This refers to a load that is constant and unchanging. For example, when a 1 kg book is placed on a desk, the load on the desk remains constant at 1 kg over time. Such loads are referred to as static loads. The load capacity on our products indicates the static load.
This is applicable when brackets are used for storage or display shelves. Please be sure to choose brackets with a load capacity that exceeds the total weight of the shelf and the items on it.
Dynamic Load
This refers to a load that is subject to fluctuations and is not constant. For example, when writing at a desk or typing on a computer keyboard, the load on the desk changes according to movement and impact. Such loads are referred to as dynamic loads.
This is applicable when brackets are used for a workspace desk. In addition to the weight of the shelf and the items on it, the dynamic load of the work performed on the shelf must be taken into account. Products with a higher load capacity than the one listed in the catalogue should be considered.
Wall Strength
Since shelf supports are fixed into walls using screws, the strength of the wall in question is also very important. The wall's strength can be preserved by fixing brackets to the wall studs.
Shelf Support Depth
The depth of a shelf support is recommended to be at least 3/4s that of the shelf.
